Ruins are visible symbols and landmarks of societies' changes, small pieces of history in suspension. The state of ruin is a temporary situation that happens, the volatile result of change of era and fall of empires. This fragility leads us to watch them one last time, in dismay or admiration, making us wondering about the permanence of things.
